Wow. It's this time again. If you want to, have a look at my journal entries if you feel like since I've requested most of these ships previously. Or at least gives an idea of what I do/don't like. If not thank you for whatever you want to write for me. I'm sure I'll love it.

Tortall: Alex/Thom

Alex is fascinating and we get so little clue in the actual text as to his motivations. As far as politics go, Alex is one of the Hill Counties. (He and Delia have that in common. He's also one of the few who're unaffected by Delia's charms.) Why did no one consider the possibility that Alex was being mind-controlled by Roger? Why did they even let a man who is not a Knight have a Squire? I'd love any sort of greater exploration of Alex as a character. (While I'm speaking a lot of some sort of redemption or explanation for his actions if you do want to just embrace his evil, and make him Roger's willing accomplice, or even have it so that his actions are on the side of good, go for it. Evil Alanna and Good Alex is intriguing.)

I'd love more exploration of Thom too. We see so little of him. Thom's isolated, does not trust, doesn't make friends. Duke Roger kills anyone who's too talented at magic, and so Thom tries to fly beneath notice. Thom's dream, right at the start is. "I don’t want to be a knight! I want to be a great sorcerer! I want to slay demons and walk with the gods-" Alanna does that, he never does. He finally comes to court only for Alanna to reveal that she's not staying, and that Thom doesn't get invited to go with her. And he doesn't fit in, doesn't make friends, apart from Delia convincing him to raise Roger from the dead. (And I wonder, was Delia sent to the convent, did Thom know her from there.)

Inda Series - Savarend/Evred

I adored these books. They're just so very good. I'd love anything that explores what ifs with Evred and Savarend. If they somehow managed to meet and fall for each other. (Be that an AU where Savarend goes to the Academy, or where some other contrivance allows them to meet, or even when they're both old men.) Their houses are mortal enemies, they're both in love with Inda and there's such an amazing fic THIS FIC!!! https://archiveofourown.org/works/30689 I LOVE THIS FIC!!! It is what got me first thinking about what if Evred/Savarend. So I'm just going to wave and point at it.
I decided last minute to enter this exchange this year so haven't really got anything to say. I would promise to actually write a letter this year but I'm terrible at forgetting to. I will love whatever you make for me. Thanks so much.

HELLO AND THANKS FOR READING!!!

Have fun and I will love whatever you make for me. I will treasure it forever.

I have selected trick this year as well as treat. While I like occult themes and the supernatural, I prefer happy, or at least hopeful/satisfying endings, with the good guys surviving and winning, and any evils being defeated/vanquished.

Original Works

I love original works. These are prompts I picked because they seemed interesting.

I'm hoping for m/m for the ship tags. I'd also prefer male witches but if you were assigned me on that tag and would prefer to write something else that's totally ok. Have fun! Fun is the most important thing.

Here's some rambling thoughts on the prompts, but if you've another idea feel free to go with that.

Candy Witch - is the witch made of candy, or are they a witch who does magic with candy? Maybe they bake gingerbread men helpers, or the marshmallow man, or sugar mice and gummy bears. Is this the witch who built the cottage in Hansel and Gretel? Do they have a connection to halloween and all the candy there? Or what about a witch who creates magic candies that offer blessings or curses or change people's moods? Or Narnia-inspired Turkish Delight, or a Willy Wonka-ish business, or an entire Candy Land. Candy Witch has so much vast potential. Maybe even a candy contest like those cooking shows on tv. Or if you've your own awesome idea run with it.

The Chosen One's Best Friend/The Dark Lord's Trusted Advisor - Are the two of them overshadowed and underappreciated by the escalating war between the Chosen One/Dark Lord? Or do they believe in the cause? Is it unrequited love all around? Are they just tired of the Chosen One/Dark Lord rivalry and have decided to join together and play matchmaker only to fall in love in the process?

Totally Inept Demon & Clever Court Jester - I love the idea of Jester's being a special position exempt from political backlash and able to say exactly what's on their mind. BUT I'm also fond of the idea of poor Jester forced to perform for other's amusement and having a terrible time of it. There's something about the idea of a Jester helping free a demon, or teaching a demon their own tricks which amuses me. Who summoned the demon? What brings them together? Is the Jester going to mock the poor demon? (Happy for this one to go Jester/Demon as well.)

Man Who Mistakenly Believes He's a Prophesied Hero/Actual Prophesied Hero - This one is just an amazing idea. I love it, I love prophecies and playing with prophetic tropes and what makes a true hero. All those good themes.

EDIT: I should accept I am just terrible at writing letters. Sorry if you're reading this. I get distracted and forget and then I procrastinate. So lack of a letter is not a sign of lack of interest. Thanks so much for reading this.

Original Works:

I selected prompts that look fun/interesting to me.

I love fantasy, sci-fi, and magical elements, including urban fantasy, supernatural stuff and superheroes. I like happy, or at least hopeful, endings. Or vengeance. There's something so innately satisfying about a protagonist, particularly an underdog triumphing against the odds and taking down the villain or the entire status quo. I like light-hearted fluff, but I equally love deeply philosophical stories that get me thinking.

For the prompts that don't specify gender, I'd prefer m/m.

Write what you love and I'm sure I'll love it too!

Big Bad Evil Guy/Bard seducing him to good
Strait-Laced Paladin/That Damned Bard
Clever Court Jester & Totally Inept Demon
Shy and Lonely Prince/Court Jester

I like bards, the whole forced to do battle with their wits and charisma, getting by on their charm as opposed to having to resort to brute strength. I love pretty bards who are underestimated. My thoughts on jesters are similar.

I also love themes of magic and music woven together.

Chivalrous Male Knight/Male Witch Who Is Feared But Actually Good
Creator of a Time Loop Living His Best Life/Man Who Wants to Escape the Time Loop
Fortune Teller/God of Fate
Powerful Mage Who's Temporarily Lost His Magic/His Male Rival
Rake/The Brother of the Girl He Should be Seducing
The Chosen One's Best Friend/The Dark Lord's Trusted Advisor

HI AND THANKS FOR READING!

Have fun and I will love whatever you make for me. I will treasure it forever.

I'm happy to receive Halloween themed fics for the challenge. (If you want to dig into old Halloween traditions too that'd be lovely.)

While I like occult themes and the supernatural, I prefer happy, or at least hopeful/satisfying endings, with the good guys surviving and winning, and any evils being defeated/vanquished, so please keep that in mind for any extra tricks.

Vampire's Male Servant/Man Seeking Shelter from Snowstorm in Vampire's Castle - The imagery of this is beautiful. I love snowed in, and those short, cold winter days and very long nights. Are they both human? What about the vampire? This whole prompt evokes so many different ideas. Is the vampire evil, is the servant enslaved, why is the man who seeks shelter travelling in such terrible weather?

Powerful Mage Who's Temporarily Lost His Magic/His Male Rival - How did the mage lose their magic and how will they cope without it? Is it all his rival's fault or is his rival the only one powerful enough to help? What's it like to define yourself by your magic, work hard for it and then lose it? Are there enemies he will need protection from if they discover he has no magic?

Person Stuck in a Time Loop/The Grim Reaper (OW) - I LOVE TIME LOOPS! All that ground hog day esque shenanigans. They're very much my jam. I prefer a kindly death like Thanatos or Death from Sandman. I'd rather the deaths lean into more amusing than graphic and horrifying.

Male Fairy/Male Witch - I love fairies! I love witches! I love them both together.

Male Human/Male Demon - Ditto for demons, love them, prefer if they're not evil though.

Placeholder letter for now!

Hi and thanks for reading this! I've picked prompts that I'd absolutely love to see. Every single one of them sounds absolutely amazing and I will undoubtedly love whatever you write for it.

Tortall - Tamora Pierce

Alexander of Tirragen/Thom of Trebond
Thom of Trebond/Original Male Character
Numair Salmalín/Thom of Trebond

Firstly, if you've an idea for these prompts that you're excited about then go for it! Skip what I've written below, I'd love to read it.

Alex/Thom

I loved the Tortall books. It's the spaces in between that I'm most interested in, the what ifs and what might have beens. Alex is fascinating and we get so little clue in the actual text as to his motivations. Thom, for all his importance to Alanna, barely appears in the story either.

My dream is for Thom and Alex to somehow save each other.

If you want to add Roger, in a sexual relationship with either/both of them, then that's fine, as is it being completely nonsexual with Roger. I do see Roger as extremely abusive, unless you're going for a 'What if Roger was right/not-evil?' style AU. Otherwise, I'd really like to see Roger gets his comeuppance and be bested.)

What ifs can be fun. What if Thom received the same help and advice Alanna did. What if a god/goddess had taken an interest in Thom too? What if Thom was also told to learn to love, to heal, and the importance of making friends? What if it was discovered Alex was being mind-controlled? What if Thom arrived at court sooner? What if Thom's teachers didn't completely fail him. What if the twins both went to be knights, or both ended up in the cloisters. What if Thom discovers that Alex has been mind-controlled when he's clearing out Roger's spells after Roger's first death. Or what if Alanna doesn't manage to kill Roger the first time. Or if they're more successful at resurrecting him in a prompt manner. Or what if the twins mother didn't die?

Alex and Thom get a bleak enough ending in the actual story, so here I'd like them to get some happiness and a fix-it.

-
Numair/Thom initially struck me as a crack pairing, but the more I've read it, the more I've liked it. They're both extremely powerful magic-users and I wonder what if?! (DNW: Daine/Numair. I like Daine & Numair, but I don't like the romantic relationship. And no underage, so feel free to fudge time, age up Numair, do a what if Thom got sent to Carthak.)

-

Thom/Original Male - Go wild! Have fun! Give Thom some happiness! PLEASE!!! :D

Arthurian Mythology
Gawain/Lancelot du Lac (Arthurian Mythology)

I have such a fondness for the idea of Gawain and Lancelot, two of Camelot's best Knights, each with their own issues. Sometime rivals, sometime questing companions. I also love the very idea that neither of them are the other's true love, but they find each other anyway.

I'm so very fond of Arthur/Lancelot as a background ship, that can't work out for reasons. I don't like Lancelot/Guinevere that relies on Arthur being deceived by them. I do like Lancelot & Guinevere as friends, or Arthur/Lancelot/Guinevere. Or one sided crush. Or Lancelot using courtly love and the image of being in love with Guinevere as a way of casting off suspicion in regards to his sexuality.

Lancelot/Elaine (Galahad's mother) reads to me as rape. She disguises herself as someone else to conceive a child with him, knowing he'd say no. Which is dark! Gawain, in turn, has Lady Bertilak's advances to fend off.

I prefer Lancelot and Gawain to be portrayed as good, chivalrous knights, even if they've issues that they struggle with. (Anger issues, depression, feelings of inadequacy, etc.)

--
Grigori Trilogy - Storm Constantine
Owen Winter/Taziel Levantine

This is a longshot, I'm really not expecting anyone to have even read these books, let alone offer an extremely obscure pairing from them.

Taziel Levantine is one of the grigori, the fallen angels who live amongst humanity. He is a charismatic musician, a powerful psychic, who fell in love with the mysterious Peverel Othman, and their relationship left him scarred. Owen Winter is half-grigori, and also a victim of Peverel Othman. Daniel was Owen's first love, and Taziel's most recent fling, and Daniel turned his back on both of them to be with the man who was Peverel. (The Trilogy's really Daniel's story, gay teenage psychic, sucked into a mysterious world of fallen angels.)

I love the idea of Owen and Taziel. Despite both being important characters in the previous books, and never having met, by the third their only mention is a single paragraph, shown through Daniel's eyes. Daniel's so absolutely certain neither of them can be in a good place, but they surprise him by having found each other. They've both been hurt and broken and I find the idea of them learning to heal together so intriguing.

Ancient Greek Religion & Lore
Asterion the Minotaur/Icarus

Icarus and Asterion are trapped by the labyrinth in different ways. Icarus, imprisoned for his father's sins, and Asterion for his mother's. (Although really his father's.)

I rather love the idea of Icarus and Asterion getting together. I'm more into the idea of tragic, abandoned Prince, who is also a prisoner, than I am big brute of an unthinking monster. I'd love switching up the dynamic from the expected and having Icarus more dominant sexually if you decide to go for smut. But mostly, I'd just love to see these two explored.

While I generally prefer hopeful endings, for this pairing I can see it going either way. A fix it that gives them a happy ever after, or just embrace the tragedy inherent in their tales.

Crossover Fandom

Edmund Pevensie (Narnia)/Eliot Waugh (The Magicians)
Alexander of Tirragen (Tortall)/Edmund Pevensie (Narnia)Fanfiction
Summary
Whoever put down Alexander of Tirragen/Edmund Pevensie it's sheer genius! With both Edmund and Alex having been traitors under the sway of powerful magic users. Edmund gets saved and a chance to redeem himself, to reflect on his past crimes, but Alex does not get that. I'm just intrigued with where this prompt can go!

Edmund/Eliot is just one of those crossovers I love the idea of. The Magicians is very much derived from Narnia and the quest in the second Magician's book is reminiscent of Voyage of the Dawntreader.

Edmund, the boy who was sent away to boarding school oh so young, and terribly bullied there, the traitor who is eventually redeemed. Who grows up and grows old only to become a child again. Who's taken away from Narnia three times and returned to England.

Book Eliot, or TV Eliot, both of them different. I'd be happy with either, or a different take. Want to write an AU, send Eliot to Narnia, Edmund to Fillory, have them both meet in the real world, be that Edmund's wartime London, or Eliot's present-day with magic, or something entirely different. I'd love to see anything.

I'd just love to see what would happen if Edmund and Eliot met.

I'd appreciate characters being around the same age, age whomever up if you need to. And I'd rather not underage.

Summary
I am running out of time! This is probably a read the letter for more details!

These prompts are mostly picked because they look fun. If we matched on this have fun writing them! If you've an idea you'd love to write on any of these then feel free to skip my prompts. They're just random thoughts I had.

Magician/Familiar - I was imagining the familiar as being humanoid with animal features, or who can shapeshift into a humanoid form. I love summoning/finding/choosing/buying a familiar to work magic and bond with forever to finally be able to do awesome magic. Or even the other side of the coin with being a familiar hoping a really nice master will pick them.

Fairy Prince/WItch is just such an odd couple. The witch doesn't need to be human. The Witch could have a tragic backstory as reason for their misanthropy. Or maybe the Fairy is just annoying this misanthropic witch with his questions about humanity and refusing to take 'buggeroff' as an answer until the witch requires an ingredient only the Fairy can provide!

Fairy Godfather/His Nemesis - What do you have to do to become the nemesis of a fairy godfather?! Is it his one charge he was unable to find a happy ever after for? Is it a rival fairy godfather that keeps stealing his clients? Is it a Sorcerer who believes fairies should stop meddling in human affairs? The possibilities are endless!

Magical Professor/Academic Rival - This just spoke to me. Is the rival aware of their rivalry or is it entirely one-sided? What if one is forced to go to the other for help? Or they have to work together? Or they have to go to a conference together and they end up assigned to a room with ONLY ONE BED!!! What if there's a spell that requires sex magic and it's all very embarrassing.

Surly Catboy/Clueless Owner - I love surly, badly behaved, catboys, who swagger around and entirely take advantage of the good nature and/or cluelessness of their owners. Or should that be cat-men? No breaking of catboy or clueless owner please.

TRICK OR TREAT TIME! YAY!!! Hopefully I'll actually write a letter this year. <3 Thankyou so much for looking at this.

STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS! OH NO I DIDNT FINISH THIS IN TIME SO SORRY!!!

I'm not doing a DNW list because I don't want to box a creator in. In general I'm rather vanilla in my tastes. Smut is good. Not smut is good. Whatever. Have fun! I will love it.

Person Stuck in a Time Loop/The Grim Reaper - Thanatos! Hehehe okay I've been watching too much Hades. I like his sort of death though, a kindly death, one that can be romanced, one who is the only other person aware of the time loop. I love the idea of romancing him. I'd rather the deaths were comic and funny and this fic lighthearted as opposed to it being grim. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Modern, it's all fun. (Or like Neil Gaiman's Sandman Death.)
YAY!!! It's Chocolatebox time again! Last year was so much fun!

Hi whoever is reading this! If you're my assigned secret chocolatier or just someone else! <3

The current letter is still a work in progress! I will hopefully finish it this time! (Thanks so much for taking the time to read it.)

I haven't done a DNW list because it was getting me down all that negativity. Which means you're probably free to write what you want. I tend towards the more vanilla side of things, but write what you want and have fun with it! I'd prefer m/m.

Fandom: Grigori Trilogy - Storm Constantine
Taziel Levantine/Owen Winter

This is a longshot, I'm really not expecting anyone to have even read these books, let alone offer an obscure pairing from them. The Grigori books are from the 90s, set in the UK, and they're about a teenage seer, Daniel, and some 'fallen angels' the Grigori.

Owen and Taziel are important characters in the first two books. Both being, at some point, Daniel's lovers. Owen's half-grigori, just a year older than Daniel. Taziel's also Grigori, psychic, and has experienced huge trauma before the start of the books. They're both broken and damaged by the events of the books. By the third book their only mention is a single paragraph, shown through Daniel's eyes, where they've found each other. They've both been hurt and broken and I find the idea of them learning to heal together so intriguing.

Edmund Pevensie (Narnia - Lewis)/Eliot Waugh (The Magicians - Grossman)

The Magicians is very much derived from Narnia and the quest in the second book is reminiscent of Voyage of the Dawntreader.

Fandom:The Red Strings Club (Video Game)

Brandeis/Donovan (The Red Strings Club)

Summary
Fix it! PLEASE! This game broke me! I love the game, and the slow reveal that Donovan and Brandeis are lovers and just the tragedy of it all. Even though we know the ending right at the start I kept hoping that it would be possible to change it.

I'd love a glimpse of more of this pair's lives together, or a fix-it that manages to change the inevitable end. (I'd particularly be interested in seeing a time-loop fix-it of sorts, even akin to Gods Will be Watching.) I love the idea of Donovan actually having supernatural powers, he feels older, bound to his. Brandeis being so young, and so doomed at the very start of the game. I love the themes running through the game, free will and all the ethics issues at play.

Fandom:Arthurian Mythology & Related Fandoms

Gawain/Lancelot du Lac (Arthurian Mythology)
Galahad/Mordred (Arthurian Mythology)
Bertilak de Hautdesert/Gawain (Arthurian Mythology)

I have such a fondness for the idea of Gawain and Lancelot, two of Camelot's best Knights, each with their own issues. Sometime rivals, sometime questing companions. I also love the very idea that neither of them are the other's true love, but they find each other anyway.

I'm so very fond of Arthur/Lancelot as a background ship, that can't work out for reasons. I don't like Lancelot/Guinevere that relies on Arthur being deceived by them. I do like Lancelot & Guinevere as friends, or Arthur/Lancelot/Guinevere. Or one sided crush. Lancelot/Elaine (Galahad's mother) reads to me as rape. She disguises herself as someone else to conceive a child with him, knowing he'd say no. Which is dark!

Gawain, in turn, has Lady Bertilak's advances to fend off.

Galahad and Mordred, are two sides of the same coin, and I like that duality. One darkness, one light. (Although I am fond of golden/red-haired Mordred.) Mordred has several origins, and I'm as good with him being one of the Orkney Knights and Gawain's brother, as I am with him being Arthur's son. But both of them being conceived through deception, and growing up as the next generation of Camelot's Knights. Both of them having father's uninterested in them, trying to prove themselves.

I love the story of Gawain and the Green Knight. I love Gawain, he's my favourite of the Knights. How his strength waxes and wanes with the sun. The very seasonal nature of the Green Knight and the symbology of midwinter sacrifice bringing on the start of spring. (I do love the idea that the test seems set for Arthur, but Gawain steps into it himself.)

I do not like the Christian imagery of some Arthurian tales and would prefer not a huge focus on that. (Although I know the Grail is significant in some iterations.) I do like the ideas of the old ways and the news ways, with magic vs religion themes. (Although I'm on the magic side.)

Fandom:Black Magician Trilogy - Trudi Canavan
Dannyl/Tayend (Black Magician Trilogy)

Summary
Love these two. Did not like what happened in the sequel series. Another I'd love to see a fix-it for, or at least some sort of happy ending for Tayend. He gave up everything for Dannyl.

Fandom:Ancient Greek Religion & Lore
Asterion the Minotaur/Icarus (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore)
Ganymede & Hyacinthus & Pelops (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore)FanartFanfiction

I'd love switching up the dynamic from the expected and having Icarus more dominant sexually if you decide to go for smut.

(I also love Ariadne. She was done wrong by Theseus.)

(DNW: Noncon.)

Ganymede & Hyacinthus & Pelops

Pelops is Tantalus' son, the one who's killed and served as stew to the gods, and then Poseidon decides he'll have some of that. Ganymede is the youth who Zeus abducts in eagle form and makes serve drinks in Olympus. Hyacinthus is Apollo's lover, who gets killed by a frisbee and then turned into a flower. What happens if they meet? (IN SPACE! In a coffee shop! Or just Olympus!) (I'm also good with any / relationships here, but don't feel
obliged.)

Original Work

I am going to add more to this eventually. I love OW so much! I don't think this is even current as of 8/01/2021 so um... SORRY IF THIS IS THE PROMPT YOU HAVE! I will add more but feel free to ignore.

Fairy Prince Who is Fascinated by Humans/Male Witch
Fairy Prince/Male Knight (OW)

I absolutely love the Fair Folk in all sorts of iterations.

Chivalrous Male Knight/Male Witch Who Is Feared But Actually Good

Good Necromancer/Male Rival He Raised from the Dead (OW)

- So I'm curious as to what other people's take on a "good necromancer" would be. I just think it's a fascinating idea. Also I like the rivalry thing going on, as well as comes back from the dead, the same, different? Wait are paladins with resurrection spells technically necromancers?

Light Mage/Dark Mage (Original Work)

Duality here. YAY! If you're going good/evil I'd prefer Light as evil, Dark as good somehow. Or both grey cuz... I'm weird like that.

Spirit of the Forest/Knight Lost in Forest (Original Work)
Spirit of a City/Traveler (Original Work)

Sooo I like the idea of anthromorphic personifications of places and the people they meet. Would prefer both as male, or male presenting.

Male Supervillain/His Retired Male Superhero Nemesis He Keeps Seeking Out Because He Misses Him - OH!!! I think I misread this prompt! Want to write me a retired supervillain visiting an active superhero? Retired superhero visiting the supervillain is good too though. I particularly like villains that aren't particularly villainous. Or if the villainy is typical cartoony over the top sort of villainy mostly for show. I like the evil overlord list and think it can apply to supervillains. Plus henchmen with health insurance who're appreciated.

Chaste Paladin/Silver-tongued Scoundrel
Oh look it's opposites attract again! :) I'm good with ace takes on this, or religious, or what if the reason the Paladin is actually chaste is because his god is a nuisance. Or... well I like atypical takes on Chaste Paladins. Where chaste doesn't necessarily mean innocent. I also like technically chaste as in his religious vows have forbidden him from any sex with women, and he has a reputation for being immune to their charms, and purer than pure, but men don't count.

Ancient Immortal/His Soulmate Born as a Male in Modern Times - SO! What if an Ancient Immortal has a soul mate, that is reborn as male, even if they don't see themselves as attracted to men. What if the soul mate isn't actually interested in them? Or what if it's perfect and sweet and lovey dovey with them both learning new things together? I know that it says modern times here, but there's immortal too, so feel free to make it a modern fantasy or sci-fi or well I'm not set on it being modern.

Trans Prince in a Primogeniture System & Their Younger Brother Who Supports Their Claim (OW) - I really, really wanted to write a fic for that prompt. I'm going to ask for it on the off chance there's someone else who also wants to write it. I've so many DNWs specific to this prompt and I don't want to railroad. So, I'll just say I'd like it kept to a general rating. And no ABO.

The rest of the prompts, I just picked a selection that looks fun. M/M please. I love fantasy and sci-fi and magical elements. I like happy endings, and if things get dark I'd at least like some light at the end, or at least some vengeance where the dark is made to pay. I particularly like light-hearted fluff. But! Write what you love and I'm sure I'll love it too!
TBA
I'm super new to exchanges still. I hope I've not done it wrong.
I will like EVERYTHING!

Still a few notes. I
love fantasy, sci-fi, superheroes, IN SPACE, fairytales. I love fantastic creatures, particularly the fair folk, and elves. And magic, so much magic.

I like fluff, feel good, happy stories with good, satisfying endings. I like playful, fun, silly stories. I like fantasy, sci-fi and stories with fantastical elements. I also like stories that ask what if, get you thinking, have moral dilemmas, and choices to be made.

But, I also like a whole lot of other stuff too, so please feel free to write anything and I'm sure I'll love it. The main thing I don't like is hopeless endings, but even with those I'll be furiously writing a fix-it. If bad things happen to good people I like them to be able to get themselves some revenge.

Monster School Classmate/Monster School Classmate - MONSTERS!!! Is this a school specifically for monsters to attend? Who defines what a monster is? Do they let humans in? Exchange students?

King/His Arranged Marriage Husband/King's Best Friend - I do love messy, unexpectedly resolved, love triangles. Particularly if they don't all start off equally attracted to each other and it has to be negotiated. King's Best Friend pining for him, forced to bring the Husband to him, Husband falls for Best Friend, and there's always been some jealousy but they resolve it by threesomes. (Also happy to have an asexual character in this mix.) And I do like reasons for arranged same-gender marriage, be that religious, tradition, politics, magic or the like. Since it's not carrying on a bloodline.

Scarred Warrior Working As A Bodyguard/Sarcastic Noble He's Assigned To Protect - I do love the idea of this dynamic. Lots of snark! Poor Warrior not being able to say what he's thinking. Why does the Noble need a bodyguard? How did the warrior end up being scarred? What happens to retired Heroes?

Wealthy Amoral Nobleman/Handsome Thief Caught Breaking Into His Mansion  - Those terrible thieves, breaking in, stealing hearts. Why does the thief thieve? Is there a guild? Are they a Robin Hood sort or just after money, or perhaps trying to retrieve something to prove the Nobleman's amorality? I prefer the amoral nobleman not to be evil as such.

Regency gentleman/His rival for the same woman's hand in marriage -

Best swordsman in the country/Worst swordsman in the country -

Exiled King/Lowborn Man He Has Decided To Protect -

Bored Immortal Longing For Death/Human Who Offers To Find A Way To Kill Him (M/M)

New King/The Feared But Actually Kind Witch Whose Help He Needs (M/M)

Magician Who Accidentally Summons Demon/Demon Who Is Not All That Evil Really (M/M)

Jaded Warrior King/Charming Prince Who Is His Betrothed (M/M)

Handsome King/His Male Court Mage (M/M)

Chivalrous Male Knight/Male Witch Who Is Feared But Actually Good (M/M)

Merman/Shipwrecked Sailor - I love stranded on a desert island, forced to survive against the environment stories.

Generational Talent/His Less Talented Best Friend (M/M)

Chaste Paladin/Silver-tongued Scoundrel (m/m)

Zealous Witch Hunter/Warlock Attempting to Seduce Him (m/m)

Fic - CharacterGenre - RomanceGenre - SuperheroesGenre - Epic FantasySetting - Enchanted ForestSetting - Space FantasySetting - High FantasySetting - Urban FantasyGenre - Established RelationshipGenre - Getting Together
Dear Chocolatier,

My first exchange, please be gentle. I've already messed up twice, I'm hoping I don't again.

Thanks so much for looking at my letter! I'm really excited to be participating in the exchange even if I keep making mistakes.

First and foremost I want to say that I will be happy with whatever I get. These comments are just my vague musings on each prompt, if you want to go your own direction that's great.

I'm hoping for M/M of whatever rating you want to write. (But if you somehow end up with me and hate writing M/M, then I'd be happy with a General/Teen rated F/F fic.)

Gattaca: I would like a fix-it fic for the end of Gattaca, where everyone lives. And/or an exploration of what if Jerome and Vincent's relationship turned romantic. There's a number of almost moments between them. Really I just wished for a different end.

Arthurian Legend: I absolutely adore Gawain, I read him as so very queer. His title of the Maiden Knight, is it an honour, is it an insult, an attack on his masculinity and his lack of love interests. It makes me think of trans headcanons and genderqueerness, or a woman who disguises herself as male, perhaps posing as her brother to become a Knight. I also love gay/bi cis male Gawain, and asexual, homoromantic Gawain. I love how how tied to the land he is, and his strength waxing and waning with the sun. How tied to the seasons the story of the Green Knight is, the Winter and Spring symbolism, and the sacrifices.

Gawain and Lancelot are both assaulted by women. Gawain wakes up with Lady Bertilak trying to force herself onto him when he's clearly not interested. Lancelot is tricked by Elaine who resorts to magic to conceive Galahad. Lancelot seems to have so many women fall for him. I like reading Lancelot as gay, and his relationship with Guinevere as a strong friendship that was forged when he escorted her to Camelot.

Original Works:

DNW: Het. ABO. Mpreg. Graphic descriptions of violence, illness, gore, bodily fluids etc. Incest. Bestiality. Dirty Talk. Humiliation kink. Rape/NonCon. 2nd person POV. Suicide and Suicidal Ideation. Depressing/Hopeless Endings. Mundane Setting. Children.

In short if it's going to get hot and steamy I prefer it relatively vanilla and entirely consensual.

I'm so sorry. I messed up my Original Works DNW list on AO3 and it's now locked and I can't change things. I have certain prompts that seem to lend themselves to horror but then I've gone and put horror on my DNW list. I think I meant to put body-horror. I like vampires, werewolves, and all that. I prefer my horror to have elements of other genres. My favourite horror movies tend to be either comedies, or sci-fi. Or the black mirror sort of psychological horror.

Likes:

Where gender isn't specified in the prompts, I'm hoping for m/m fic at whatever level of explicitness you want to write.

Male Demigod tyrant/his male protege who leads rebellion against him (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Superhero would be my preference here.)

I'd love to see a tyrant who believes he's serving the greater good, where he takes initially good intentions and a desire to protect his people to an extremely oppressive extreme. Where he strips away free will and choice because his subjects cannot be trusted to keep themselves alive, not hurt eachother, and always choose the right thing. I love twisted utopias where everything seems perfect at first until it turns out it's not.

Or an over the top scenery chewing Tyrant, and his even more villainous protege that seduced him, in order to overthrow him.

Or a good protege who overcomes the tyrant's evilness through the power of LOVE!!! Or one of those scenes where the Tyrant's all "join me on the dark side, together we will rule the world" and the protege is all "okay!" Or played straight with a protege who has the difficult moral dilemma of overthrowing the tyrant he loves, or working to redeem him, or being forced to make a choice between love and freedom, and whether he takes a leadership role, or instead walks away. Difficult choices!

Trickster God/Human Trickster

I love tricksters! I also have such a fondness for fables with trickster types. I'd be so happy with a story that read like the Just So Stories, or Brer Rabbit, or Coyote, or El-Ahrairah, here. But with the trickster having a humanish form.

I also love Loki though and more typical trickster types. Does the human win? Does the god win? Is there trolling? Is there a prank war as a form of courtship?

Sphinx/Adventurer who keeps getting riddles wrong

I love riddles! I also love Gordian Knot solutions and how frustrating they can be, when the adventurer just ruins everything. Is the Sphinx annoyed or amused. Does the Sphinx only have the one riddle or are there more? Does it end up with the Sphinx giving a ridiculous riddle like "what is your name?" and the adventurer still gets it wrong? Is the adventurer trolling? Are the answers technically correct but not what was intended? Is the riddle game just a pick-up technique? I would like the Sphinx to have a human shape if it's going to get sexy, and I was hoping for a male Sphinx here, but if you picked the prompt expecting female go for it.

Human Male Knight/Fairy Prince Who Covets Him

I love fairies! I prefer them human sized. Modern Setting! Fantasy! Fairytale! Sci-Fi! It's all good. I'm as happy with space-knights, and people with the surname Knight, or actors/gamers/roleplayers who play knights, as I am with typical fantasy knights.

Evil Adviser to Bumbling Mad Sultan/Non-Evil Adviser to Homicidal Mad Tsar

I keep thinking the advisers should just swap, like on that tv show Wife Swap. Or the hilarity if the sultan/tsar fell madly in love, (maybe all 12th Night), and the advisers were trying to negotiate this. Or there's heirs that want to marry eachother and unite the families! Maybe they're cursed with their madness and that curse needs to be lifted, and so the advisers must plot with each-other! Sci-fi or fantasy would be great, and no need for everyone to be human.

Seemingly Widowed King/His New Husband/His First Husband Who is Surprise Not Dead
I'd rather not modern. Fantasy or sci-fi would be great.

Is the not-dead husband an immortal, vampire, reincarnated, time-traveler? Did he just fake his own death, or had it faked for him? Were they together for years, or did the first husband fall overboard on their wedding night never to be seen from again. Did their vows say until death do we part? Was the second husband always in love with the King, and do disposed of the first? Is the Widowed King good, or evil? Did he kill his first husband (or at least try to) and now the second one is in danger which is why the first has returned? Or was the first husband evil, and he's now returning to cause chaos in a happy marriage? Is his new husband a clone of the first one? Will it be a joyous reunion accompanied by a threesome?

Knight with Necromantic Powers/His Deceased Arch-Rival He Raised from the Dead

I know this might be the trickiest of my prompts to do coupled with my dislike of bad endings. I think it's possible, but if you picked this prompt wanting to write a Necromancer who raises his rival from the dead so that his rival can never escape from him I'm sorry.

I love playing with the concept of necromancy that isn't evil, but which does still have a price. (Aren't resurrection spells a form of Necromancy?) And I forgot that not everybody does, and that it's just as interesting if a Necromancer Knight is just a Knecromancer.

The whole idea of came back wrong, be that they can no longer be harmed, or no longer heal, or feel, or were ripped away from heaven, or now feel dead inside and nothing seems real and they need to recover their zest for life. (I don't like rotting corpses though so please don't.)

This rival, having a destiny, one where they're expected to sacrifice themselves, to die a hero, they do so, and then the Necromancer completely ruins that by bringing them back. That switch from a life with meaning and purpose to one where they're meant to be dead and they no longer have a place.

Is the Knight from a family of Necromancers, but he turned his back on magic to become a Knight instead. Did he deliberately raise his rival from the dead, and if so why? Or was it an accident? Why were they rivals? Did they go to Knight School together?

If you do want to write this straight, with Evil Necromancer raises Good Rival to torment, I'd consider it a good ending if the Rival thwarts him, or puts an end to his evil or whatever, good triumphing and all that.

Male Demon/Virginal Male Priest
I'd like this completely consensual. Is the priest's religion pro or anti demons? Virginal doesn't need to mean pure, nor innocent. What god does the priest serve? and sacrificing your own virginity to a demon for greater power, or to trick someone is great! Better yet if they then decide to be completely pedantic about what does and doesn't entail virginity. Does sex with a male demon keep the priest pure? I like when demons aren't pure evil, but they may have different morality.

Dark Mage/Light Mage
Zealous Witch Hunter/Warlock Attempting to Seduce Him
Original Demon Character(s)/Original Human Character
Dark Mage/Conjured Demon

I enjoy themes of good and evil, villains and heroes, dark and light being played with. In so much as good and evil are more a matter of publicity, pro vs anti-establishment, and lawful vs unlawful. I prefer my villains/evil to be more cinematic, over the top, scenery chewing villainy than grounded in realism. Contrarily, I'd be happy for the good characters to be flawed, judgemental, stuck in their ways believing only they are right, only to be shown their error.

I love seeing characters overcoming their prejudices and narrow-mindedness to see there's other paths of goodness.

But really I'd love anything.

(Still working on the original prompts.)
